Granite Countertops

There is nothing more elegant and inspiring for a kitchen than natural stone countertops. Each piece of stone is uniquely created by God, which gives every kitchen a different personality.

There are some factors you should consider when choosing Granite for your countertop surfaces. Granite is a natural stone product, and is not manufactured in a factory. Stone is mined, fabricated and installed in kitchens, but these three steps do not change the stone and it’s natural imperfections.

The beautiful patterns and colors we all love, have been formed over thousands of years by the heating and cooling of the earth combined with pressure changes within rock formations. Each piece of stone has markings which appear to be imperfections, but in actuality are part of the stone formation process. The common two variances that people find in granite are fissures and formations.

Granite is an extremely durable, and easy to maintain countertop surface. Silex offers natural granite at extremely affordable prices.

Quartz Countertops

Quartz countertops are an engineered stone product, which are made by mixing and compressing natural quartz and epoxy resins to create a hard wearing and stain resistant surface. Quartz countertops are molded and milled to standard sizes and thickness and are available in a wide variety of colors.

Quartz can be affordable, but does not cost less than granite. It must still be fabricated and installed using the same methods as granite countertops. It lacks the unique qualities of a natural stone and typically has a more conservative print pattern. Quartz is a functional and durable top which can be used in commercial and residential applications or very high traffic areas. If you desire countertops with a more conservative look and the highest durability, then Quartz is the natural fit for your application.

IceStone is manufactured without any petrochemicals or resins, making it an environmentally responsible choice for countertops in the home or office. Care of IceStone is similar to that of natural stone. From classic neutrals to bold contemporary jewel tones, IceStone is sure to bring your vision to life, elegantly and responsibly.

Caring for your Icestone & General Cleaning:

Use the products recommended in these guidelines. Cleaning products should be free of chlorine bleach, ammonia, acid and citrus scents.

Be especially attentive to spills such as coffee, wine, fruit juices and other acidic liquids, wiping them up promptly with a damp cloth and water.

Place a tray under coffee machines, soap, and soap dispensers—as with all surfaces, use trivets and cutting boards to help protect the sealer and the surface.

What makes NeoLith the best choice for your new counter tops? Its NeoLith’s revolutionary manufacturing process that use 100% natural materials, extreme heat, and intense pressure to produce the most durable surface material available in the market today. We confidently say “extreme” heat and “intense” pressure because NeoLith slabs are cured at about 2200° Fahrenheit (1200+°º Celsius), and compressed to over 5900 pounds per square inch. In comparison quartz counter tops are only cured at about 200° Fahrenheit, and like other counter top surfaces, this results in a surface finish that can be easily damaged by something as simple as a hot pan without a trivet or hot pad underneath.

Why Should you choose NeoLith Countertops?

• Lightweight and easy to install.
• Resistant to scratches, abrasion, and wear.
• Resistant to fire and high temperatures.
• Waterproof with near zero absorption.
• Suitable for direct food contact.
• Ridged with high flexural strength
• Freeze and thaw resistant.
• 100% natural.
• 100% recyclable.
• Easy to clean.
• UV resistant.

How do you select the right color?

There are many factors to consider when selecting your color and style of the countertop surface. The design must tie in flooring, cabinets, back-splash and sources of lighting.
We suggest starting with your countertop selection and carry a sample of your stone to help select your cabinets, flooring and backsplash. If you have already made other
selections such as cabinets or backsplash, we recommend bringing a cabinet door and backsplash tile to help aid in selecting
the right countertop. At Silex Interiors we offer kitchen cabinets and tile backsplash which certainly eases the purchasing process.

As a rule of thumb, you should decide whether you prefer light or dark stones and exotic or conservative patterns. These two decisions will help to narrow
down the selection process and bring clarity to your choice. Always remember to bring a drawing
of your layout, so that an estimator can determine the quantity of stone you need to complete your project.
